Jonathan Gilliam – Austin

With a deep background in business development, market analysis, opportunity development, relationship management and C-level sales, Jonathan brings a broad knowledge of business development and market strategy. Jonathan has appeared in numerous international radio and television broadcasts, global print stories, seminars and conferences as an expert in high tech industry issues, including the New York Times, Wired Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, and multiple appearances on TechTV’s “Silicon Spin” with John Dvorak, among others. He is a regular panelist on the National Science Foundation’s SBIR Program in Washington D.C., and is an advisor and mentor to several area technology companies. He has been consistently acknowledged as a top performing business development professional, having been awarded the prestigious “Excellence in Business Development” award while at Deloitte. Jonathan is the founder of the Society for Business Development Professionals and is currently authoring a book on business development-related topics.

Prior to joining OneAccord, Jonathan served Deloitte for nearly seven years as a National Business Development Manager in one of the firm’s fastest-growing practices, where he worked on the national rollout of DTect, the firm’s flagship data mining and fraud detection service. DTect product rollout responsibilities included all aspects of strategic business development, resulting in sales to major enterprise customers including Sprint Corp, Microsoft, Pfizer, Exxon-Mobil, among others.

Jonathan was a founder of Deloitte’s technology industry practice in his geography, driving the firm’s relationships with VC-backed, mid-market and large public technology companies. This experience exposed him to a myriad of business issues faced by growing companies.

Previously, Jonathan was Co-Founder and CEO of Hush Communications Corporation, a leading Internet security software company based in Austin, Texas and Dublin, Ireland. During his tenure as CEO, Hush became and still is a leading provider of secure Internet communications and today serves the largest active end-user-base of strong encryption in the world. Jonathan’s ability to “sell” the concept and to recruit talented people, leadership skills, and passion for the company’s business were instrumental to the company’s success. The company is currently profitable and serves hundreds of thousands of corporate and consumer customers.

Jonathan received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and later graduated from the Rice University publishing program in Houston, Texas. He resides in Austin, Texas with his family.
